For a small town, Pittsboro has extraordinary options for lunch. These are my favorite places.
Angelina’s Kitchen. Man, do I love her lentil soup. I also love her falafel, on pita bread with local tomatoes, tzatziki, and tabouli. The baklava ought to be banned as an illegal addictive substance.
On Mondays, when Angelina’s is closed, I often get a three-salad platter from the General Store Cafe: potato, beet-walnut, and Greek. Soooo tasty and very filling. Another excellent option is the Billy salad: greens, apples, gorganzola cheese, and toasted walnuts.
When I have a child with me, we go to S&T’s Soda Shoppe for the friendly atmosphere, grilled cheese sandwiches, and really good ice cream. Warning: take at least one other person with you to share the banana split.
Finally, the salad & hot bar in our great little coop, Chatham Market, always has great vegan or vegetarian offerings. I start with lettuce, then add a little of this, a spoonful of that, and some noodles. It’s all so good.

Hey Karen,
My husband and & just visited the General Store Cafe a couple of weeks ago. I just posted the experience on my blog. We both really liked it. I am going to try to get back this weekend for one of the bands:-)
It is great you have a Bed a Breakfast Inn. I bet it is a lot of work but a lot of fun:-)
