The birds are singing and the air is warm. Dogwood, iris, and azaleas have popped into joyful bloom.

And three terrific excuses are coming up.
Clydefest Saturday April 17, 11 am – 4 pm, Bynum Ball Field
Clyde Jones is a world-renowned folk artist who chain-saws unique “critters” from cedar logs. The ninth annual Clydefest will be a rollicking event designed especially for kids. Expect great music, games, activities, food, and whimsical art.
Bynum is a tiny historic mill town about half-way between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. Directions are on the website.
Shakori Hills Festival of Music and Dance Thursday through Sunday, April 22-25, on 75 acres of rolling meadows in the countryside. Directions on their website.
An awesome line-up of bands and performers – over fifty of them – will perform on four stages over the four days. In addition to music you can wander the festival grounds and find great food, interesting activities, crafts and art being demonstrated and sold. If you’re not staying at my B&B, you can even camp there.
Piedmont Farm Tour Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25, 1-5 pm The nation’s largest sustainable farm tour, with about 40 small farms and vineyards participating. You can meet the farmers, tour their farms, admire their sustainable practices, purchase food.
So – let’s put on some sunscreen and head outdoors. See you there!
