Festivals and Farms

North Carolina has the most beautiful spring weather in the world.  That’s not official but I challenge anyone to correct me.

Two wonderful weekends coming up when you should be outside enjoying the best this area has to offer.

Shakori Hills Grassroots Music Festival. April 19-22.  Four days of dance, music, food, crafts, kid’s activities, workshops, demonstrations, poetry, camping. You’ll see all kinds of dress from tie-dye to overalls.  Music ranging from African, Cajun, bluegrass, Latin and more. Square dance, Irish dance, ballroom, hoops, and swing.  Creative food: crepes, Iroquois,  international BBQ. Thirty-two acres of so much fun you won’t believe it’s legal.

Piedmont Farm Tour, April 28 and 29.  Forty farms in central North Carolina will open their gates to visitors.  $25 buys admission for a carload, to any and all, for both days. Organic produce, livestock, honey, orchards, ducks and chicks, rabbits, strawberries, flowers.  It’s fascinating to see where your food comes from, at these beautiful sustainable farms around Hillsborough, Carrboro, Graham, Efland, Pittsboro, and Siler City.
